GROWHAUS

INTERNSHIP / GRAPHIC DESIGN / SPRING 2016
During spring of 2016, I worked as an intern at GrowHaus in Denver. GrowHaus is a local non-profit that works to provide healthy food to a community living in a food desert. My role was to help promote events, create signage for events and their in-house market, create educational posters, and print media. This internship taught me a lot about working with clients to ensure their vision becomes reality.
MARKET PLACE
MARKET PRICE TAGS
The purpose of this project was to revamp the graphic and visual presence of the market place located within The Growhaus. I was given the opportunity to work with one of the directors of the marketplace to work on a series of iterations of price tags. I decided to go with a design that matched the overall aesthetic of The Growhaus. I wanted it to be consistent and intuitive since many members of the community are young children and Spanish speaking people. Both English and Spanish needed to be included on the design of the price tags. I chose to utilize images of the produce and a color system based on the type of produce: green for vegetables, red for fruits, brown for herbs, yellow for grains, and blue for dairy. This allowed for people to quickly and easily understand the price tags and navigate the market space easier.

SEED PACKETS
The seed packaging project was in connection with the price tags, so keeping the same aesthetic was important so everything would visually read as The Growhaus. I chose to keep the same style, color schemes, and images while including simple planting instructions on the back of the packaging. The design aims to show a sense of simplicity and make the user feel like growing plants is something that anyone can do.
These packages are the same size as a standard seed packet. I designed the digital files to be folded together and laser cut out of paper in order to produce larger quantities very quickly.
